Hepatitis A

Certain travelers are at higher risk of contracting the hepatitis A virus, including those who:

• Stay with or visit the local population in affected areas
• Frequently travel or stay long-term in regions with poor sanitation and food hygiene
• Have pre-existing liver disease or haemophilia
• Engage in sexual contact between men
• Use injecting drugs
• Work in areas with a high risk of hepatitis A transmission
